Maple Syrup Magic Sauce Cake

Ingredients
- 1.5 cup all purpose or cup-for-cup gluten free flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar lightly packed
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup milk or dairy substitute
- 1.5 cup maple syrup
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 tbs butter or butter substitute (Becel Vegan or Earth Balance Spread)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- In large bowl, mix together the flour, sugars, baking powder and salt.
- Stir in milk until well combined and pour into a greased 8 x 8 inch baking pan or casserole dish with deep sides.
- Combine maple syrup, water and butter in a small saucepan.
- Heat on stove over medium heat just until the butter is melted.
- Pour the warm sauce evenly over the batter in the baking pan. Do not stir or mix.
- Bake for 45 minutes.
Recipe Notes
This is best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
